HDR-Horizon at Night

New to Horizon

What are the services like?

We begin our services with worship. Worship is a time to give God your very best praise and prepare your heart to receive the word of God. Our style of worship is contemporary and uplifting; focusing on the greatness of God. God’s word tells us in Psalm 100 verse 4:

"Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name."  A thankful and grateful heart is more receptive towards the things of God.

We then open our bibles and go through God’s word in a teaching style that shows the timeless truths and relevancy of God’s word for our lives today. God’s word tells us there is nothing new under the sun; therefore, what is true in Genesis through Revelation is still true for us today. God gave us His written word for a reason; so that we could know Him. You cannot know God, His Son Jesus, or His will for your life without knowing and reading His word. The word of God is so important that the Apostle Paul told the Ephesian elders before he left in Acts 20 verse 27:

"For I have not shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God."

The whole counsel of God is found in Genesis through Revelation, so that is what we teach from.

What about children; do you have classes for them?

Yes, we do. We have a Quiet Room at the back of the sanctuary for mothers and their nursing babies. It has full view of the service; complete with sound. We have childcare and Sunday School for all ages during all our services. Junior High and Senior High teens meet during second service on Sunday morning. All our volunteers have undergone background checks.

How should I dress for service?

Dress in any style of clothing that makes you feel comfortable. Wearing casual clothes is the norm here; you do not have to dress up at Horizon Christian Fellowship to come to church. However, if you like to get dressed up, you can do that too.

Will I be singled out during service?

No, we do not ask newcomers to stand up during service. You will not be required to sign any registry, or to fill out any forms. You will just be greeted by friendly people and warm smiles. Any questions you have can be answered at the Info Booth in our lobby. We are here to help in any way we can, but we are not going to come up to you and ask a lot of questions. We believe that you belong to God, not us.

Will I be pressured into giving?

No.  As a matter of fact, we do not receive an offering during service. There is no "passing of the plate," and there is never any discussion of financial needs during services. We have boxes in the back of the sanctuary for any monetary giving; we believe that God leads and convicts believers to give. Tithing is only discussed as we come across it in God’s word. If God puts it on your heart to give no one needs to know about it or witness it. It is truly between you and the Lord.
